This week has been nuts! Lots happened and it's been
amazing to see so
many miracles.
It for sure has been a rough one too with not many lessons but we
retraced our steps and figured out what we can do better and made
changes.
There are a few things I want to share today with you
First
President Russell announced a new rule on Friday. It was hard to
accept but I realized it actually was an answer to my prayer.
The rule is now that we can only open letters on Monday and not
throughout the week. Before, I loved reading letters throughout the
week. It gave me motivation. BUT, I knew it actually was there to help
me stay focused on the work. Monday is family day but others days are
the Lord’s time.
Along with that rule and many others, we have as missionaries, got me
thinking how to see this as a positive thing. Well when we follow
rules/commandments we receive blessings. And with those blessings we
are happier and safe. I then saw this rule as an opportunity to receive
more blessings.
MORE RULES MORE BLESSINGS.
What an amazing concept. I like it because it's a more positive way to
think of rules and commandments. They are never a burden but a
wonderful thing.
I am grateful for this concept and it helps me see the brighter side of things.
Everyone thinks our religion is so restrictive and too many rules and things.
But think about it.
If we are given commandments and rules to keep us safe and bring us
closer to Christ and be happier, then bring on the rules. I will take them
all and try to live them all. I know that even though this church asks
a lot, it's because Christ did and does still asks a lot too. It's His
church and He asks so much because He wants us to know Heavenly Father and to receive
blessings by being obedient.
Anyways next thing,
A miracle happened at church. A man, we will call Buck, just got out of
jail. His mom is a less active and we have been working with her. It's
been rough for the family but Buck got out of jail after a few weeks
due to drugs and stuff. He is a member and decided to turn to God. He
came to church 2 weeks ago. His mom told us he would be coming. So we
saw a man we didn't know and we introduced ourselves. He said his name
is Buck and we spoke for a bit and he shared his testimony of prayer
and God being aware of him. Well, he came again yesterday and brought
his kids. Buck is in his 20's and he went up to bare his testimony at
fast and testimony meeting. Now that first takes a lot of guts for
anyone to do that and amazing because he hasn't been to church in a
long time. He spoke about prayer, and missionary work, and the Savior
and his testimony of the church being true. The spirit was so strong
and I pretty much cried because this man just came from a very dark, dark
place to turning to Christ and coming back on a better path. It was
amazing to see that!
Funny story...
On Tuesday we were leaving an appointment to return home for the
night. We were in a red zone (can't go without a member, a missionary
got stabbed there) so we had Sister Luna with us. As we were driving
back with her we got stuck in front of this train. It's about 9:15 do
past our curfew. We were in a lesson though so it was fine. But we are
stuck and the train is sooooo long. So we are waiting and now its
9:30... We are never to be out past that. So I was kinda worried. The
train stopped due to problems so Sister Luna turns around and goes
another way. We finally found our way back by the main roads. But then
cops pull us over. Her registration is expired. So the cops come and
explain but then this hobo starts cussing out the cops and hassling
them. The cops says to just get it fixed and had to go deal with this
hobo. Right there 4 cobs grab the guy and arrest him.... Sketchy
right!
Then we are driving and another hobo is in the street drunk
and we almost hit the guy! We didn't though and are almost home. It's
9:45 now, Way past curfew... We get to our apartment parking lot and
there was a guy that hit a motorcycle gang. The gang of guys were
super nice and the guy that hit them was yelling and cussing them.
You would think it would be the other way around. Well Sister Luna
asked what happened and the gang explained but didn't want cops
involved but the guy with the car was crazy so she suggested they call
the cops. Finally after handling that we got to our apartment. We
called the elders and told them we were safe. We have such good elders.

Learned how to mow a lawn since I never was taught. It's okay mom and
dad, the Masons got you covered. We repaired a chicken cope, axed some
wood, and built a fire to roast hot dogs and marshmallows for dinner. It
was a blast serving and having dinner with the Masons

We had a rough week with numbers due to having lots of
illnesses and having to take it easy then having it be Labor Day weekend and no
one wanting to see us.
But it was the most random week ever.
Shall we begin this adventure..
Monday we had a visa waiter with us because she was gonna
leave the next day and needed a companion so we hung out Monday together. But
then we got word that the mission changed their mind on her living arrangements
and said we weren't supposed to have her. The joke was that we kidnapped a
sister. We gave her back to the mission and then went back to our normal prep day.
Tuesday we had the opportunity to have a new missionary come
out to her first lesson with us her first night.
What they do now with new missionaries is they come in Wednesday
and hear speeches most of the day and then at night they go out with a
companionship and be a part of their first lesson with them. Then they go back
that night and stay the night at the mission home then Thursday they meet their
trainers and start in their new area.
So that night we had sister Slade who is so fun. We went to
an investigators house with the bishop’s wife as our member to join. So there
was 4 of us but we informed Rona (her made up name for now) there would be so
she wasn't overwhelmed. Rona is way cool. We taught the gospel of Jesus Christ
but it was all going by the spirit. We talked about baptism a lot and the new
sister said some amazing things that were perfect for Rona and the member was
solid too. All of a sudden I got this huge impression to invite Rona to be
baptized. We thought about it but wasn't sure when the time would be and the
spirit yelled NOW!! So as I was filled with the spirit we asked her to be
baptized and she said YES!
She is very nervous and has a hard time feeling worthy but
she said she would prepare and knows it’s something she has to do. We were so
glad the new missionary got to experience that and she loved spending that
night with us. It was a blast and a miracle!
Saturday we did a lot of service for members and people we
teach.
We washed a ladies very dirty dog for her.
We made bread with a member who needed company.
We just had a blast seeing people and serving others.
Sunday was awesome because the RS thought it was combined
but it wasn't so they asked us to wing up a lesson. We did and it was so
amazing. We talked about missionary work and Preach My Gospel. It was going in
the direction of Q and A for members and us. We got so close and answered a lot
of important questions. It helps when missionaries are on the same page as
members and we are unified together in the work of the Lord. Best day ever. So
our week was random but a blast!
Lots of adventures and it was all by the spirit of where we
went.
PS. so we went to target today to get socks for sister W and
there was a labor day sale. Well we saw a few things. I found a super cute
skirt and some simple shirts to go with but I thought no way do I have money to
pay for this. MOM AND DAD WOULD KILL ME. But around the corner a member from
another ward saw us and we talked for a moment. She said she had a coupon we
could use to pay for our outfits. I was like really??!! I pretty much got a
whole outfit that I would also wear off the mission that would have been 50$
and with the members kindness coupon it was only 35$. So I know its crazy I got
more clothes please forgive me for being a shopper girl/sister missionary haha
Any ways. Long email got to go. LOVE YOU TONS AND MISS
YOU!!
