June 30, 2014
This week has been good full of miracles. Today we just got back from hike with the best members we know. Wife new concert and husband new active member. We went with them and their family and we had a blast I will send pics.
Now I would like to share something in particular though about an experience we had last week.
On the 27 it is the day Joseph smith was killed. They mentioned it in a meeting but I didn't do much after.
president called and I was nervous it was something bad I did or something serious he needed to talk to us about. It can be good when president calls but at times it is nerve racking haha. But I got a uneasy feeling with nervousness so I prayed for it to pass me
in prayer I prayed for many things such as comfort for whatever was to happen, for my companion, for president, for this area, etc
president only called to confirm crater lake trip with our bishop we are doing next week so nothing big.
Well later that day we went finding and came across a man’s house who had business cards on the side of his door. As we wait for him to answer we look at it. He is into the film industry. I thought of mark right then. The man answered and wasn't much interested but I simply asked about his business since my brother is going into that. Right then he was interested and we talked for a while on his door step about his life and advise I should share with Mark. We discussed our families and talked about his
Sister Shirley felt prompted to ask about family history
Started off good until he started bringing in false understanding and information he has received about our church. We tried to correct him at first and explain but he wasn't gonna hear it. He was so determined that he knew more about our own belief than we did and he hadn't even read the Book of Mormon or even met missionaries to know. He got his knowledge from anti-Mormon books and studies that only claim false info and points out every flaw about our church. The man was convinced we were a cult and led by the devil . It was sad how we went from having such a joyous conversion to a complete bash. I was prompted by the spirit that the only thing we can do at this point is to bare testimony. So I started to testify what I knew was true. Well at first he shook his head like don't even, just stop, and for some reason I couldn't though. Even if I tried my lips kept going and my whole body was filled with the spirit to just keep testifying what I know to be true. I testified to him that I know my Savior lives. That he died for me. I have come to know this through prayer and by the power of the Holy Ghost.  I have received my own witness that He is the only begotten Son of Heavenly Father and my Redeemer. I continued to tell him that nothing can or will ever convince me to ever deny what I have witness and felt. My experience of coming to know the Savior has strengthened my testimony and no one can ever take that away. I testified that through prayer ANYONE can feel His love. By the power of the Holy Ghost they can know. That's how I have come to know what I know about my belief and I will never dare deny that and will continue to share it.
As I talked I never remembered his expression I only remember the feelings that were there at his door. That my fear of his bashing went away and I was completely led by the spirit to know what to say and how I can show this man that our church is not what he claims it is. That it's different and is of our Heavenly Father. It is of Christ.
Sister Shirley tells me his face was in compete focus on me and expression was in shock.
After I testified, he said your right your testimony is something no one can take away or argue with. That's yours and you hold on to that. I thanked him for respecting my testimony, listening to it, and politely accepting it. He said sister I sure hope what you say is right because I sure would love to see you in heaven. You both are great girls and it would be sad if I didn't. After we left sister Shirley said what a great reunion it will be when you see him in heaven. I said I very much look forward to that day to come. He is such a good man. Very kind. Full of love. Sadly has been misled about our church but I continue to pray that he may see otherwise and hear the truth of what we believe.
I want to testify that baring testimony is the most powerful thing we can say about our belief. It's personal, it’s of the spirit, and no one can take that away nor argue. It's sacred but yet something worth sharing with others at the right moments. I was scared at first to share mine because it's sacred. My relationship with the Savior is sacred and thinking about this man possibly arguing my testimony terrified me, but the Spirit knew me better and helped me keep going. And boy what a difference it made to his world.
I am grateful for the sacrifice Joseph Smith made. This church has been through much persecution and to be honest, I am grateful for it. Each time we are persecuted we grow stronger. It's hard yes but hard things make strong people.
Our testimonies must be heard though so testify to all. Share it. If it makes you happy than why not share that with those you care about.
Thanks so much for all the support back home. I love hearing from everyone and love you all tons. Thanks again and have a great week!

June 23, 2014

This week has been good. For sure one of the hardest week but one of
the best I have had with Sister Shirley. I learned a wonderful concept
yesterday in church.
The Concept in sacrament meeting was about trails and what they do for us.
They strengthen us, change us and give us an opportunity to trust the
atonement of Jesus Christ.

How we are strengthened is by the example of exercising. With weights we
start with 10 lbs. and we do that until our body finds that easy and
then we will lift 20 lbs. to become stronger and do that until it's
easy and continue the process with 30-50 lbs. and so on. Heavenly
Father may give us something hard and when we overcome the hard factor
and conquer it we have done hard things. It won't be as hard the next
time around. So for us to stretch and become strong, Heavenly Father
may give us something hard that we may feel we cannot bare, but in
reality, we have already done hard things. Those things have built us
up so we can do even harder things and become even stronger. Through
all of this we become more like Christ who went through the hardest
thing of all. He took upon all our sins. Our trials are yet a small
portion of what He has done. And each time we face a trail and it
gets harder each time we know that through our experiences we are
becoming more like our Savior and understanding Him more as our true
redeemer who did it all for us. The fact that He went through such a
major sacrifice just so we don't have to have as hard of things is the
most greatest gift of all. Can you imagine what it would be like to
go through a trail and not have the atonement? Not have Christ take
upon our sins. Not have His love. I strongly believe that His
sacrifice takes off more of the hardship than we ever can imagine.
Without Him we would be nothing and probably going through lower than
hell in our trials. I know the Savior truly has died for me so the
tails I face don't have to be as hard as they would without Him. I am
eternally grateful for that and can only repay him in righteous living
and serving a mission for all of god's children.

Funny story
We went “finding” before our dinner appointment and talked with this guy
sitting on a fence. He asked what we wanted and we explained who we
were. He looked at me after introducing ourselves and said "could you
hold my beer while I jump down from this fence?" Uhhhhhh yeah I didn't
know what to do so I said sure.. Keep in mind that I am 19 years old
under age for drinking AND a missionary! Here I am holding this beer.
Boy I just prayed there was no news reporters or any members looking
at that view! He ended up being a potential for the elders and we hope
much success will come from our visit
We walked most of this week and got some crazy awesome tans!!
Hardest week of my mission due to walking and finding more to teach
and helping others progress.

Miracle
Having 3 previous members of the church at
church desiring to come back.
Sitting with a man at McDonald's talking for an hour and half about
his life. Not sure what the public thought as these 2 girls talking to
this man as he is sobbing and venting to us. Potential with him and
that's what matters.

Well I sure love you guys so much and thank you for all the support
you give me, I very much appreciate it! :)

This week has been hard but no more negativity. I love how hard it is
and the ward helping us use the lords time wisely. We are gonna try to
do lots of service for the summer and lots of finding in the area! I
am determined to use every hour to its fullest! I am pumped!
I would like to share with you an experience that I had last week that
has strengthened me a lot.
Sister Shirley and I were reading in PMG recognizing the spirit,
praying with faith. We were invited by our zone leaders to read it and
as we read it I felt we should write down 100+ of things we can say in
our prayers to be more specific and improve them. Well, as the week
went by I wrote them down and this morning I was finishing up the last
few and then reflected on my experience with it. I felt as I wrote
these things down that my understanding about prayer has increased and
that my relationship and understand of Heavenly Father increased. I
know we can truly tell him anything and everything, which I love, and that I
have been able to improve my prayers by that. I am also so
grateful for my parents. You both have been truly the best support
system and my best friends through this journey. I am so happy how our
relationships have grown so much on my mission and I always think of
how much stronger it will be in person. I know that Heavenly Father
blesses our family tons and are proud for all we do together. I am
thankful for the talks given at church yesterday for Father's Day and
how much joy that brought to me as I heard about others talk about
their dads and then think how blessed I am to have my own dad. I love
you both so much and hope everything continues to go well. I know that
Heavenly Father trust you as parents and as his children. Thank you so
much for everything and fulfilling you calling as my parents. You’re
exactly what I need in my life to return home to our heavenly family.
Thanks again and hope you have a wonderful week! :)

June 9, 2014

This week has been hard. There is someone who is for sure having things way worse. It’s been a growing experience though for me.
I have been struggling because I have been feeling like I don’t have a lot of support when I do what I am supposed to and do more. We were asked in a recent missionary meeting to take the revelation we learned and received from president and from the meeting and bring it to our wards. We are over 2 and are working with 2 different sets of elders. Working with other missionaries are wonderful and a true blessing but it does have its trials at times. They are wonderful hard working elders. I just feel although we are not working in harmony in our area like we should and the work is separate sometimes. There are moments when we have 2 different opinions about the work. It happens though. Areas are not perfect nor are missionaries.
I read in a talk can Stand as a Witness. It hit home run for me. The talk is about standing up for our beliefs and such and standing for Christ and being that example. It’s directed for the YW but applied to me in many ways. It brought comfort to me that Iknow Heavenly Father is proud of me and Christ supports me along with my loved ones at home. I know my companion does even though she doesn’t say much. It’s hard of course but hard things help us grow into who we need to become and what we need to do. I am grateful for that and know that this experience will help me much later in life. Thank you so much for all your support dad and for many others. That is really what I turn to and rely on when it does get hard and I feel alone. I have you guys and my heavenly family. I don’t want to make it sound like I am complaining and saying the elders are bad. They are great we all are our own people and make mistakes and aren’t perfect. I share this to express what I have learned this week and how even though we face hardships, feel alone, or have no support. We always will have someone if we look hard enough and of course we will always have our Savior and Father in Heaven.
I love you tons and I am grateful to have a family like you guys. Not many people have that. Everyone has a story. I am so blessed to have you and Miss you and love you all tons! Have a great week and be safe! :)
