Finding on Exchanges
So I went on exchanges with another sister on Friday to Saturday.
Sister Newsome and I had a blast! So she picked a spot to go tracking
and the place she picked was a pretty brave choice. We went to the
wealthy side town. So there we found huge and beautiful homes. We said
a prayer before we began and off we went to spread the gospel. Well
the reason it was a brave choice is because most wealthy people here
in Oregon are very closed off to missionaries. They are content with
where they are and don't want to hear what others have to offer. Most
won't even give us a chance or open the door. So as we tracked, this
was pretty much our experience. But it was cool because instead of
getting down with so much rejection, we instead looked at all the huge
awesome homes, talked about what we loved about it and then talked
about our testimonies. It was a very spiritual experience we had
regardless of the rejection.
Saturday we were contacting potentials and guess what!! A lady didn't
know who we were but randomly just let us in and talked with us.
Afterwards, we were able to share a little message and get a return
appointment. Sister Slater said that it’s been 3 months since they got
a new investigation so it was a big deal for us!
Book of Mormon testimony with members
So as our dinner message here we are trying to team up more with
members. So we decided to share with members Alma 5:46-48 then talk
about the importance of a testimony. Then explain how we want to team
up by having them write their testimonies within the Book of Mormon and
then we as missionaries will hand it out. It's more meaningful for
someone to receive a book with a testimony than just a book. And we
know that whatever they say in their testimony, it will be exactly
what the person needs that we give it to. Members have loved this
message. I hope this makes sense and it really has been so awesome to
work together with members. It's hard for members to hand out the Book
of Mormon so we thought at least start with writing your testimony and
we will hand it out to those we see. And it's cool because then when
we hand it out we can share with the member our experience with who we
gave it to. So it's been cool doing this with members.
Anyways it's a short email.
Quick funny saying.
A lady said to us when tracking.
"Your women and you’re in that church?" "I hope you have a good life
being women in your faith'
Super funny as we left that that is all she said to us.
Got to love what people say to us as we try finding. Haha
Well I love you and hope you all have a good week
Love everyone, love yourself and be an example of love. This is what I
have learned this week is love. Love is the cure to all sorrow. Love
is what can bring us up when we are down. And Christ showed the
perfect example of love.
Love you all
